GCON is proud of our educational and municipal facilities as their purpose is to build the future for our communities and our future leaders. Director of Public Works, Tiffany Fisher, has over 20 years of public works and construction experience, and has a team that is professional and responsive to every need.
Our experience includes both primary and secondary educational facilities involving new build, additions, and renovations. Governments and schools can hire GCON direct through our job order contracts (JOC) including MIHS and 1GPA.
Bayer Private School
This Design-Build project celebrated its grand opening only 20 weeks after groundbreaking. Under what most would consider an impossible time line to design and construct, the Design-Build collaboration between GCON and DLR Group provided the Bayer Private School students and faculty and on-time start to the 2015-2016 school year.
This beautiful two-story, 20,000 SF school consists of administration offices, support spaces and eight regular and two specialty classrooms. The project was constructed with high-end residential features to fit into the surrounding community incorporating Santa Barbara architectural features. The school can serve up to 440 students from pre-K through 8th grade.
Prescott Valley Library Roof
The Prescott Library is a piece of town pride. The library had leaks from day one, and when GCON came to make repairs, the library needed to stay active and open to the public. Our team removed existing metal and the membrane roof system, including cover boards, then installed new cover boards that created a sealed-tight, new roof.
Pathfinder at Eastmark School
This new charter school for Edkey, Inc (formerly Sequoia Schools) in the Eastmark Development followed GCON’s Design-Build process with custom Program development and competitive Design RFP (refer to page 2 for more details on GCON’s Design-Build Process).
A K-6 school for 45o students, construction began with new site grading and infrastructure and is comprised of a slab on grade,tilt-up concrete frame with metal stud walls and a combination of EIFS and Hardie Board systems. Designed for a “children’s museum” feel, this facility consists of interchangeable, interactive learning resources and demonstrations built into classrooms, common areas and learning boulevards (hallways). Additionally, all 18 classrooms have additional learning space to allow for small group activities and exploration of skills and concepts.
Other aspects of the school include a computer lab, a multipurpose room/gymnasium, an outdoor interactive learning playground, and a library in the student common area. A unique feature to this STEM Academy school is the open grand rotunda on the exterior providing students and faculty a special outdoor place to congregate. GCON assisted with FF&E and move-in coordination. This fast-track project was completed in just six months.
