GCON was contracted to design build this project. We demolished 3 old buildings that had to be reviewed by the historical society prior to demo and we also had to have special demolition permits in order to demolish the building since they were historical. We developed the entire site, utilities, new parking lot, new drive-thru, landscaping area, retention areas and a new shell building. The building itself had finished exteriors.
The Ironwood Crossing project is 19 acres of infrastructure for a new shopping center, including sewer, water, gas, fire lines, storm systems, dry utilities, parking and landscapes. A 21,000 square foot new build suite style shopping area was built. In addition to the suites, a 66,000 square foot newly built Safeway store that anchors the strip center. Multiple new pad areas were prepared for future construction and growth. Offsite improvements including new drive approaches, and new turn lanes, along with traffic control. This project was brought in early allowing the owner to release tenants to start their interior build outs, 30 days before expected.

This pedestrian-friendly retail center dubbed The Plant that is anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market and features a mixture of retail and restaurant tenants. The Plant has attractive pathways highlighted by seat walls, unique planting and shade trees. The surrounding shops are farmhouse inspired featuring chevron roofs and open-air arcades along the fronts with wood, brick and metal accents. The Plant team also plans on working with the City of Chandler to incorporate a public art element that celebrates the agricultural heritage of the area – an underlying theme of the overall look and feel of the development. The project was completed the summer of 2016. In addition to building the overall shopping center, GCON completed the build out for Sprouts Farmers Market.
